Inspired by a recent Instagram post by the Bibbbulmun Track Foundation, we decided to check the facts and highlight the importance of packing out what you pack in. Hold onto your hiking poles, some of these numbers might knock you for 10.

PAPER: 2-6 weeks // CARDBOARD AND WAXED MILK CARTONS: 3 months // PLASTIC WRAPPER: 5 years // PLASTIC BAG: 10 - 20 years // TIN CANS: 50 years // ALUMINIUM CAN: 200 years // PLASTIC BOTTLE: 100 - 1000 years // GLASS: 1 million + years // ALUMINIUM FOIL and STYROFOAM: Never!
